Government Degree College Ramshahar was notified by the State Government vide notification No. EDN-A-Ka (1)-32/2007-Loose dated 31st January, 2017 to promote and uplift the standard of Higher Education in the remote and rural area of district Solan. The institution became functional in June, 2017 and began imparting UG level education in Arts and Commerce streams. Five batches of students have passed out from the college from 2017 to 2024. The college has a picturesque location, salubrious climate, nurtured in the lap of lush green hills and a sound academic ambience. Ramshahar tehsil is one of the seven tehsils of Solan district. Ramshahar is a rural area situated on the hills, 19 km from Nalagarh on the Nalagarh-Shimla road. Ramshahar is surrounded by Kunihar towards East, Bilaspur Tehsil towards North, Dharampur Tehsil towards South, Rupnagar Tehsil towards west . This Place is in the border of the Solan District and It is near to the Punjab State Border.

The college is running in an earmarked independent building within the premises of Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Ramshahar. The Construction work of the college building commenced w.e.f. 04-05-2023. Despite it’s limited infrastructure Government Degree College Ramshahar is paving it’s way for the future and is progressing gradually to establish it’s name and fame amongst the promising institutes of Higher Education in the State.
